Boat building

Class 2 used the materials and plans that they had done with their parents for homework. Thank you parents! They were able to explain what they had to do and with what. They enjoyed using the cool melt glue gun.

Meeting Barti Ddu the pirate.

The children enjoyed learning all about pirate clothes, weapons, doctors and general life on board a pirate ship. They particularly liked wearing a pirate hat or holding a pistol or cutlass.

Mm! We had a French breakfast.

The children told each other about their holidays and learnt a little about France following my trip there at half term. They made pain au chocolat and hot chocolate. I think they liked it judging by the mms all round.

Aargh! Class 2 Pirate Shop is open!

The whole class worked really well as a team to decide on a name for the shop. All children gave a suggestion and they voted on the three most popular names in a 'real life' graph. Aargh! was the winner. They then thought about what a shop needed and carried it all and arranged everything in the shop. They could then put all the shop items that they had made last week. Well done children you demonstrated great team work!

Ahoy me maties!

This week each group thought about what would be sold in a Pirate Shop. They then planned how they would make each item and who would make what. They decided how much they would charge for things in the shop. They selected their materials. They had great fun making cutlasses, hats, telescopes, treasure boxes and the treasure to go inside as well as peg legs and treasure maps. They coloured and cut out pirate masks and even made a few pirate moustaches.
Next we will set up the shop (when there's less chance of it blowing away!).
Charlie made a hanger ready for the shop. Will made a pirate. Both used knex.
The children took some photos of the activities.
