What have we been up to this week?

The children have been making 3D houses this week. It was a tricky task, but all of them tried really hard with their cutting out.
We learnt about the story behind Bonfire Night. Some children decided to make the Houses of Parliament and King James's castle.
They made a variety of things from a range of construction resources.

A Farewell to Jess

We had an Australian party with bush tucker trials and other competitions.
Alfie won the boomerang competition. Jess was amazing at blowing the dijereedoo so judged the competition and Carys won. Mrs Alford and Mrs Gibson tried but couldn't make a sound. Class two are very good shots so there were many winners at the crocodile game. Class two love sweets so much they were happy to put their hands in the 'worms' to grab the prizes. We ended the party with marshmallows round the 'campfire'.

back to School

We've been picking and eating tomatoes. They were lovely and sweet!
We've also been doing lots of Maths. The children are getting really good at making number bonds to 5, 6 and 10. They're also enjoying using the Numicon. Catherine was able to count her tower in 10s all the way to 100!
For our topic we are studying the locality so the children have been learning about compass points and looking at and sorting different types of houses.

Getting ready for our assembly

Emily Howell, a former pupil, did a fantastic job drawing and cutting out our pirate ship. The children painted the masts. They also helped paint the sea.

Our sports day

What a lovely day! All children participated with enthusiasm. Well done children!
