A mini-beast week!

We have had another exciting week in Class 2!
We coloured, cut out and made mini-beast masks and we played with giant plastic mini-beasts in our pretend indoor garden.
We went on a mini-beast adventure where we collected mini-beasts and looked at them very closely. We found so many different types of mini-beasts and then we put them all back safely where we had found them.
On Thursday we found a baby caterpillar on our carpet! We all had a good look at how it moved and then put him back safely on a leaf in our nature reserve.
We have also been reading 'The hungry caterpillar' and have been writing and re-telling the story.
What a busy week!

Our new topic!

We have been learning about about 'Teeny Tiny Mini-Beasts'. We went on a hunt around the school and we used a mini iPad to take photographs and to zoom in on they mini-beasts. We could see so much detail! Back in class we used magnifiers and the pictures of the mini-beasts to try and draw them. The pictures were great!
Also this week we have crawled and scurried around to mini-beast music and we programmed our  fantastic Beebots with directional instructions!

Pasg Hapus!

Another fun filled week packed with Easter activities!
Firstly I want to say a big 'Well done' to everyone who made an Easter hat! They were all fantastic and you all looked great!
In school we learnt about Easter, made Easter cards and delicious chocolate Easter nests.
We also took part in a  Llanhari Primary tradition of egg pacing which was lots of fun too!
I hope you all have a fun Easter holiday and enjoy all your chocolate eggs!

Book week!

This week has been book week. We brought our favourite book to school and shared them with our friends. We talked about the characters and the story settings, and wrote about our favourite character.
We have also become authors as we have written our own class story based on the character Chicken Licken. We used instruments to put sound to our story to make it even better!
Well done everyone for dressing up in your amazing costumes!

Sport Relief and bye, bye Mr Pitman!

Well done everyone in taking part in our sporting activities today! We all enjoyed star jumping, running on the spot, balancing a beanbag on our heads and on a bat, target throwing and having a car race!
We thank everybody for their kind donations.
It has also been a very emotional day for us all in Class 2, as it was Mr Pitman's last day in our school. We will miss him so much but we also wish him all the luck in his new job! We had a super fun party in his honour!
ALL THE BEST FOR THE FUTURE MR PITMAN!!!

Chinese New Year!

We have had a wonderful time investigating how Chinese New Year is celebrated. We watched a DVD of Ian and his family celebrating Chinese New Year and watched a lion dance and a dragon dance! We made our own Chinese dragons using our hand prints, they looked very colourful!
We were told the story about how the animals were chosen to represent the Chinese zodiac and discovered that this year is the year of the horse!
I think our favourite activity was tasting the Chinese food. It was delicious!!!
