Sport Relief and bye, bye Mr Pitman!

Well done everyone in taking part in our sporting activities today! We all enjoyed star jumping, running on the spot, balancing a beanbag on our heads and on a bat, target throwing and having a car race!
We thank everybody for their kind donations.
It has also been a very emotional day for us all in Class 2, as it was Mr Pitman's last day in our school. We will miss him so much but we also wish him all the luck in his new job! We had a super fun party in his honour!
ALL THE BEST FOR THE FUTURE MR PITMAN!!!

Shrove Tuesday and St.David's Day!

Another busy and very exciting week in Class 2!

On Tuesday it was Shrove Tuesday and we made pancakes with Mrs.Hatter and Mr.Pitman. We tasted lots of different toppings and chose our favourite two toppings to put on our pancake.
They were delicious!

We also learnt about St.David and we had our school EIsteddfod on Friday! Well done everyone for your fantastic singing and to the three girls who said the recitation so beautifully.
Congratulations to Ava-Lee for coming first in the art competition and to Nicole for coming first in the handwriting competition!

Well done everyone for all your hard work this week and you all looked fantastic in your welsh costumes!

Chinese New Year!

We have had a wonderful time investigating how Chinese New Year is celebrated. We watched a DVD of Ian and his family celebrating Chinese New Year and watched a lion dance and a dragon dance! We made our own Chinese dragons using our hand prints, they looked very colourful!
We were told the story about how the animals were chosen to represent the Chinese zodiac and discovered that this year is the year of the horse!
I think our favourite activity was tasting the Chinese food. It was delicious!!!

Winter Time!

We have been talking about and looking for signs that winter is here. We discussed how cold it is and described a range of winter photographs using WOW words including crunchy, white, cold, freezing, squishy, frosty and icy (fantastic words, well done everyone!) We used these words in our writing and created a class poem which will be displayed outside our class along with our fabulous paintings of us wearing our winter clothes and having lots of fun playing in the snow.
We also looked and played with small world animals from cold places and used ice cubes in our play! We drank squash (with ice) and hot chocolate and talked about when it is best to have an icy drink and a hot drink.
Everyone carefully cut out snowflakes too!
We also made little bird feeders as we talked about how birds need a little help and care from us during the winter time.

Christmas Fun!

We had fantastic Christmas fun at the end of this term. We made cracking cracker Christmas cards, a shiny picture frame calendar and decorated Christmas biscuits. Our Christmas concert was a great success with everybody looking great and sounding fantastic on the stage. To complete the celebrations we watched the amazing Jono and his magic tricks and had a super Christmas party with delicious food and pass the parcel!
Many thanks for all your kind gifts and we wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

This week we have celebrated the Hindu festival of Diwali- Festival of Lights. We watched a DVD of Sharm and his family celebrating Diwali, made 'Happy Diwali' cards, moulded and painted Diva lamps, coloured rangoli patterns on the playground and tasted a range of Indian food - it was delicious!
